The Coach and Horses is a beautifully presented building. On arrival I was warmly greeted at the reception area of the bar which, given the time of year, was decorated tastefully festive, giving a warm and cosy vibe. I was delighted to receive an upgrade on arrival and was guided up to my room with information provided on the way I.e. out of hours access, we’re to go for breakfast. I noted that the communal areas were immaculate, as was my room which smelt gorgeous and clean. The room itself was also very tastefully decorated and cosy. Well stocked tea/coffee tray with plenty of tea options and a good amount of coffee sachets, as well as hot chocolate and biscuits. Bathroom essentials also available (shampoo/conditioner/shower gel and moisturiser) Lovely thick fluffy towels provided and the shower was decent - incredibly clean also! Plenty of good lighting in the room and double sockets either side of the bed for charging phones. Slept well in the comfy bed and was kept cosy all night. My only complaint would be that street noise does carry into the room but it is a listed building with sash and case windows and there were earplugs provided for use (nice touch). Was cheerfully greeted to breakfast in the morning and after helping myself to fresh juice and fruit from the buffet I ordered poached eggs on toast. Full English and veggie breakfasts available, as well as breakfast baps and eggs benedict…..if I’d had more time I’d have tried the full veggie breakfast! Overall great experience at the coach and horses, would recommend and would stay again!

Very good location. Five minutes walk, if that, to town centre and abbey. 100 yds from bus station . A bit further from train station and uphill! Although on main road no traffic noise even in my room (no.4) facing the road. Warm welcome. All staff very friendly. Room , recently refurbished I think, was exceptionally comfortable. I booked a single and was given a double. Much appreciated. One criticism. Lighting in bathroom very poor. No light above washbasin making shaving quite difficult. Ate dinner at sister pub right across the road as menu was more extensive. It was good.

The staff here were exceptionally helpful. They ensured that after a long and difficult journey the kitchen stayed open to feed me and were quick, friendly and efficient when I needed to get away early the next day. Food was good and reasonably priced. The room was beautifully appointed but most of all there were exceptional small touches with everything from a shoe cleaning cloth to a face mask available to ensure I had everything I required - and some! Wish I could have stayed longer.

Helen

The staff were exceptionally welcoming and always made a fuss over our pup. She was treated like a princess the whole stay, with treats in the room and her own breakfast! The human breakfast options were great too. The room was beautiful and really clean with all the amenities you might need. We appreciated the air cooling unit and fan. The location is super central and although the hotel doesn’t have parking we never struggled to find nearby free parking. We would stay again for sure.

The property was in a great position and the facilities excellent. From first contact everyone was friendly and the service excellent. The room was very well appointed with very comfortable bed and hot shower. Housekeeping kept the room spotless. Breakfast was very satisfying with excellent range of cold options and fresh fruit and the cooked breakfast excellent and cooked to order. Food in the bar was excellent too, the steak and ale pie is highly recommended.
